Bluepulse

Explorance, a Montreal company specializing in feedback and evaluation solutions, entrusted us with developing Bluepulse, its continuous feedback mobile app for educational institutions.

Context

Listening to students, continuously.

To improve the learning experience, teachers need to know what their students think during the course, not just at the end. Bluepulse had to make this feedback as simple as a message, and as useful as an analysis.

The constraint Working hand in hand with Explorance's product team, on its own environments, in compliance with the GDPR, and preparing a complete knowledge transfer at the end of the mandate.
An ecosystem

Multi-platform.

Mobile application iOS and Android, to respond in seconds.
Quickpulse Quick surveys sent to targeted groups.
Results Keywords, word cloud and recurring trends.
Web platform Developed by Explorance, synchronized with our mobile apps.
Bluepulse: activity feed, results and answers on three phones
Mandate

Quick to answer, rich to analyze.

From 2017 to 2019, Appcom developed the Bluepulse mobile apps alongside Explorance's product team, from needs analysis to publication in the app stores.

The challenge: let students give their opinion in a single tap, and let teachers draw clear trends from it to adjust their teaching.

What we did

Everyday feedback, from the feed to the results.

We developed the native iOS and Android apps: an activity feed where each student answers questions (scales, multiple choice, free text) and interacts through quick replies, as well as Quickpulse, a quick survey tool for sending surveys to groups, subgroups or personal groups, with suggested questions.

Results can be viewed by keyword, as a word cloud or by recurring trends. Goals link to the activity feed to track progress, and teachers have a form to log their activities.

Around every answer, a real conversation: teachers respond to feedback with follow-ups, featuring suggested replies, likes and privacy settings.

Rating scale questions with customizable icons and follow-ups. Secure sign-in with Touch ID, Face ID or PIN. A GDPR compliance check. Detailed results: mean, median, standard deviation and recurring questions. Follow-ups and suggested replies, with privacy settings.

Impact and results

A product delivered, then handed over.

A new generation Launched in 2018, version 3.0 laid the foundation for a richer app, enhanced release after release up to version 3.2.
A successful transfer At the end of the mandate, Appcom transferred all its knowledge to the Explorance team, which took over the product fully on its own.
