FQCQ

The Fédération québécoise des clubs quads brings together the province's ATV clubs. We built iQuad, the app that supports ATV riders and trail agents, even where the network doesn't reach.

Context

Trails far from the network.

ATV trails cross forests and remote regions, often out of reach of the cellular network. ATV riders need a reliable map and their access rights close at hand. Trail agents, for their part, must check those rights and maintain the network in the field.

The constraint Serve two audiences with very different needs, ATV riders and trail agents, with a single app that works even without a connection, deep in the forest.
An ecosystem

Multi-platform.

Mobile application iOS and Android: offline map, routes, access rights, groups and Apple CarPlay for riders.
Agent mode QR code verification of access rights, shared notes and trail maintenance, even offline.
Interactive web map On the web, FQCQ and club trails and points of interest, continuously synchronized, with groomer status.
Centralized management Clubs, memberships and federation messages managed from a single place.
Québéquad ecosystem: management platform, web portal and trail map
Mandate

On the trail, even without a network.

Appcom's challenge was to design a reliable field app for ATV riders, with the trail map, federation messages, access rights and a tiered subscription model: free, regular and Pro.

The same app also had to equip trail agents, with features that work offline and sync once the network is back.

What we did

One app, two audiences.

For ATV riders, iQuad brings together the trail map, the clubs section, trail and groomer status, access rights purchases and vehicle management. Subscribers get the offline map, tourist circuits and saved routes, shared by link or imported as GPX and KML. Pro adds groups (real-time member locations and emergency alerts), activity recording, coupons from partner businesses and Apple CarPlay.

For agents, the app automatically detects their role and gives them access to QR code access rights checks, notes shared between agents, reporting of prohibited vehicles and a guided maintenance form.

Continuous synchronization of FQCQ and club trails and points of interest, so the most recent data is always displayed. One-day and three-day access rights by QR code, with instant visual validation. A maintenance form that works offline and syncs automatically. Reporting of animals on the trails, to help protect wildlife.

Impact and results

A field app, constantly evolving.

A flagship product iQuad is at the heart of the relationship between the federation and ATV riders. Release after release, the app has gained a Pro subscription, new access rights and tools to protect wildlife.
Better-equipped agents Rights checks, maintenance and reports now happen right on the trail, even without a network, with information shared among all agents.
